Training

GyroplaneTrain offers a very structured course, with online course notes and continuous assessment via Gyropedia https://gyropedia.com/iapgt.php with printed and online access to the training syllabus, course notes, flight briefings and in-flight video demos.

 

We offer full PPL(G) - private pilot’s licence (gyroplane) training.  The course is absorbing and challenging, containing practical flying elements as well as ground school for the theoretical subjects. 

You will complete your pilot training at the rate that reflects your commitment and developing skill.

A visit and chat are well worthwhile to discuss your personal requirements however some basic information follows.

Age

Minimum age ‐ Legally, there is no minimum age to start training however :

  • a student cannot fly solo until they are 16 years old

  • a student cannot apply for the PPL(G) until they are 17 years old

Medical Requirements

You can self-declare yourself fit via the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Pilot Medical Declaration form.
Holders of an NPPL medical declaration, Part‐Med Class1,2 or LAPL medical certificate are eligible.

THE MINIMUM THEORY & PRACTICAL FLYING ELEMENTS FOR ISSUE of PPL(G) can be summarised as:

 

  • Complete a course of training as defined by the CAA syllabus

  • Complete a minimum of 40 hours of flight training (dual and solo)

  • Pass a general flying test with a flight examiner

  • Pass theory in; Aviation Law, Human Performance, Navigation, Meteorology &Gyroplane Technical

UK issued pilots licence Holders in a different category may be credited up to 15 hours flight training and may be credited all Theory except Gyroplane Technical
