Before flight in a gyroplane, best practice requires a personal review to ensure our fitness to fly. This checklist is easily remembered by the acronym IMSAFE which confirms the absence of:

Illness –         Can reduce concentration.     You need good concentration to fly.
Do NOT take chances. It is better to be able to fly another day!

Medications - may make you drowsy.
Check if medication warns it may affect your ability to drive/operate machinery.
If your medication has such a warning - don't fly!

Stress -         If you have a lot of things on your mind, then you will not be able to concentrate.
Do not fly if you are stressed in any way.

Alcohol -       The legal limit for alcohol & flying (20mg/100ml) is much less than for alcohol & driving.
In addition, do not fly if you have had any alcohol within the past 8 hours
(alcohol consumed the previous evening may still be in your blood next morning).

Fatigue -       Lack of sleep results in poor concentration
Do not fly if you have not had a good night's sleep.

Eaten Recently - Not eating may cause low blood sugar.     This will affect your concentration.

Medical conditions declaration

Having read the information above, I declare that:

  • To the best of my knowledge and belief I, or the person I am buying this voucher for, do not suffer from a medical condition which would exclude me from holding/exercising the privileges of a driving license and thereby create or lead to a dangerous situation in flight e.g. fits/seizures, severe head/neck/back injury, recurring fainting, giddiness/blackouts, unstable diabetes/high blood pressure/coronary heart disease.

  • In the event of me, or the person I am buying this voucher for, contracting or suspecting any of the above conditions or any other physical or mental condition which might result in me or them being a danger to myself or others whilst flying in the aircraft, I/they will not fly until I have obtained medical opinion and authority to fly.
